Socialist Plans To Run For State Representative Against Alyson Sullivan

October 15, 2021

If all goes according to plan, Massachusetts state Representative Alyson Sullivan (R-Abington) won’t run unopposed for re-election once again.

That’s because Brandon Griffin, a self-described socialist and member of Whitman’s board of health and planning board, plans to run. He created a campaign account with the Massachusetts Office of Campaign and Political Finance this week. He is a member of the Workers Party of Massachusetts, a socialist party that supports gun rights.

No Democrat ran against Sullivan in 2020. It’s unclear if a Democrat will challenge her in 2022.

Sullivan beat then-former (now current) Abington selectman Alex Bezanson, a Democrat, 55.8 percent to 44.2 percent, in the November 2018 general election.
