Teachers’ Union Endorses Maura Healey For Governor of Massachusetts

June 29, 2022

The Massachusetts Teachers Association endorsed Maura Healey in the race for governor this week.

The current attorney general is the only Democrat running for the post; the two Republican candidates are former state representative Geoff Diehl (R-Whitman) and Wrentham businessman Chris Doughty.

“Maura Healey has connected the joy of her coaching experience to the joy that educators experience when they help students learn, grow and succeed,” Massachusetts Teachers Association president Merrie Najimy said in a press release. “As governor, she will make public education — from prekindergarten through college — a top priority. In addition, she will value the perspectives of those of us doing the work, who have too often felt as if we are being robbed of the joy of teaching.”
