The Boston Globe Endorses Michelle Wu For Mayor

October 25, 2021

The left-leaning editorial board of The Boston Globe has made the decision.

It wants Michelle Wu to be the next mayor of Boston.

Wu is running against fellow at-large city councilor Annissa Essaibi George. While the Globe wanted Andrea Campbell to win in the preliminary round in September, she finished third; only the top two advanced to the final election on Tuesday, November 2.

The Globe‘s editorial board cited portions of Wu’s left-leaning agenda for endorsing her.

“In this election, she has sketched out an agenda for a greener, more equitable city,” the editorial board said. “She’s committed to tackle one of Boston’s stubborn, entrenched problems — a police department that lacks the trust of too many residents. She’s a persistent advocate for mass transit, and rightly sees it as a way to both clean up the environment and ease the crippling traffic congestion that has been an unfortunate byproduct of the city’s growth. She envisions setting up a system to help families navigate the bewildering complexity of the Boston Public Schools.”
