The Cook Political Report Projects That Republicans Won’t Win Any U.S. House Seats In New England

Will a Republican from New England win a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives this upcoming November?

Maybe not, according to The Cook Political report. The publication’s most recent U.S. House ratings show the races in the country editors think could be at least somewhat competitive. That includes two New England races, but they’re giving the advantage to Democrats in both cases.

They have the race in Maine’s Second Congressional District (which covers central and northern Maine) and the race in New Hampshire’s First Congressional District (mostly eastern New Hampshire, including Manchester) as “likely Democrat.” 

All of nine U.S. House races in Massachusetts are considered safe seats for the Democrats. A Republican hasn’t been elected to the U.S. House from the state since 1994.
