Two Vaccinated Maine State Senate Democrats Test Positive For Coronavirus

September 17, 2021

Two high-ranking Democrats in the Maine Senate have tested positive for coronavirus this week. Both of them are fully vaccinated against the virus.

The two Democrats in question are Senate President Troy Jackson and Eloise Vitelli, the majority leader.

When announcing his positive test on Tuesday, September 14, Jackson used the opportunity to promote the vaccine.

“While breakthrough COVID-19 infections are far more rare, we know that they are possible. More and more breakthrough infections continue to be reported all across the state and country due to the highly contagious delta variant,” Jackson said in a written statement, according to Boston.com.
