Vermont Governor, A Republican, Wants To Give Free Money To Illegal Immigrants

Vermont Governor Phil Scott has said he wants to take taxpayer money and give it to illegal immigrants.

Scott, a Republican running for a third two-year term in November, reportedly wants to set aside $2 million for stimulus payments for residents of Vermont who were not eligible to receive $1,200 from the federal government as a coronavirus stimulus check in the spring — because of their immigration status, as VTDigger reports. Scott’s proposal would give $1,200 for adults and $500 for each child.

“The point of this is parity and equity,” said Xusana Davis, the Scott administration’s executive director of racial equity, told VTDigger. “We’re not asking for anything more than what other people in this state were given under the CARES Act.”
