Vermont Governor Phil Scott Will Seek Re-Election

May 18, 2024

Vermont Governor Phil Scott will seek re-election.

The liberal Republican is running for a fifth two-year term.

“During my four terms as Governor, my team and I have worked to grow the economy, make Vermont more affordable, and protect the most vulnerable,” Scott said in a statement. “I’ve done my best to rise above partisanship to solve problems, and help people.”

Scott, who has served as Vermont’s governor since 2017, is a fiscal moderate and social liberal.

Scott has said he voted for Joe Biden over Donald Trump in the 2020 presidential election.
