Vermont Mask Mandate Going Into Effect This Week

Starting in August, Vermont will have a mask mandate to combat the coronavirus pandemic.

The state’s Republican governor, Phil Scott, recently ordered that anyone entering a business in Vermont must wear a mask, with few exceptions.

Under the new order, private and public businesses both must put up signs saying that they require masks for anyone over the age of 2, as The Associated Press reports.

The exceptions? People who are doing vigorous exercise, those who are eating or drinking, and those with medical conditions. However, people with medical conditions must provide evidence that they have a condition that prevents them from wearing a mask.

The initial order does not include a fine for those who violate it.
