Vermont Produces Record Maple Syrup Total

This year, Vermont set a record — in maple syrup production.
The state’s maple syrup companies produced 2.2 million gallons of it during the season this year — more than half of the country’s total. This also broke the record they set last year: 2.07 million gallons.
Data from the U.S. Department of Agriculture shows prodigious production, according to NBC5 Vermont.
But where will it all go?
One problem the sellers faced this year was restaurants being closed for a few months amid the coronavirus shutdown. It’s unclear if that increased supply and lowered demand will lower the product’s price this year.
