Vermont To Offer Free Hunting and Fishing Licenses … If You’re The Right Race

November 18, 2020

Want to go hunting or fishing in Vermont?

Well, depending on the color of your skin, you might be able to get a license for free.

Tribal citizens will be able to get hunting and fishing licenses for free starting in January 2021 while everyone else will still have to pay for theirs, as MSN reports.

To receive the free license, the tribe member has to present an Abenaki Hunting and Fishing License Tribal Certification form. This form must be certified by a tribal official who deals with such matters. The person also must show a tribal identification card, Vermont license application, and, in the case of hunters, proof that they have had a hunting license or a hunter safety card in the United States or Canada.
