Washington Post (and Former Boston Globe) Editor Marty Baron To Be Harvard Commencement Speaker

The executive editor of The Washington Post, which adopted the motto “Democracy Dies in Darkness” three months after Donald Trump was elected president in 2016, has been named the main speaker at Harvard University’s graduation.

Marty Barron, who served as executive editor of The Boston Globe from 2001 to 2012, became executive editor of The Washington Post at the end of 2012.

The Washington Post, which leans left, is owned by Amazon founder and billionaire Jeff Bezos.

Barron was named commencement speaker of the nation’s oldest school of higher learning Tuesday, February 18, according to The Harvard Crimson.

Harvard’s commencement is scheduled for Thursday, May 28.
