Worcester Illegal Immigrant Pleads Guilty To Unlawful Re-Entry and Passport Fraud

April 13, 2024

A Worcester man pleaded guilty this week to using a stolen identity to apply for a United States passport after he had illegally re-entered the United States despite a past deportation.

Rohan Andrew Brown, a 56-year-old, pleaded guilty to a count of unlawful reentry of a deported alien and another count of passport fraud. His sentencing is scheduled for July 17, according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney for the District of Massachusetts.

The Jamaica native was originally deported in August 2002 after being convicted of unlawful restraint in the first degree in Connecticut.

He re-entered the country at some point following his removal and unlawfully obtained a passport in 2012 by using the identity of a United States citizen, according to federal immigration authorities,

Brown then used that stolen identity to get driver’s licenses in California and Ohio. Plus, in March 2022 and May 2023, Brown tried to renew the passport using the same stolen identity.

Here are the sentencing guidelines for the charges he faces, according to the press release:

The charge of unlawful reentry of a deported alien provides for a sentence of up to 10 years in prison, three years of supervised release and a fine of up to $250,000. The charge of passport fraud provides for a sentence of up to 10 years in prison, three years of supervised release and a fine of up to $250,000. Sentences are imposed by a federal district court judge based upon the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and statutes which govern the determination of a sentence in a criminal case.
