Worcester Police To Start Accepting First-Time License-To-Carry Applicants Next Week

July 11, 2020

The Worcester Police Department plans to start processing license-to-carry applications for first-time applicants starting Monday, July 13.

It would be the first time since about mid-March, when police stopped doing so in connection with the coronavirus emergency.

Applicants have to schedule an appointment with the police department to proceed.

Throughout the emergency, people have been able to renew existing licenses to carry.

First-time applicants have been shut out because the application process requires fingerprinting, which was considered unsafe, according to the Worcester Telegram & Gazette. That is not the case for those renewals.
