(CNSNews.com) – Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) said on Tuesday that biological males should not be allowed to use the women’s restroom in federal facilities and parks, stressing that men should use men’s rooms and women should use women’s rooms.

At the U.S. Capitol, CNSNews.com asked Rubio: “Do you believe biological males should be permitted to use the women’s room in federal facilities and parks around the country?”

“No,” said Rubio. “I think men’s bathrooms are for men and women’s bathrooms are for women.”

“I don’t know what the problem we’re trying to solve here is,” Rubio said. “I mean, we’ve been doing it this way forever.”

“I don’t know, I just don’t see this crisis that all of a sudden they’re scrambling to create all these solutions for,” said the senator.

The issue of whether or not people should be required to use the restroom or locker room that corresponds with their biological sex became a national controversy after North Carolina enacted a law stating that should be the case.

Some officeholders and activists have called the laws discriminatory and are promoting the idea that people should be allowed to use a restroom based on their “gender identity” rather than their biological sex.
