Ed Markey Inverts JFK, Says It’s Time To Ask What The Government Can Do For You

November 20, 2020

U.S. Senator Ed Markey (D-Massachusetts) offered contradictory advice to the words of a former Massachusetts senator on Twitter on Thursday morning.

Markey tweeted out, “It’s time to start asking what your government can do for you.”

The Democrat’s position differs from that of John F. Kennedy, a former U.S. senator from Massachusetts who later went on to serve as President of the United States.

Kennedy said in his inaugural address as president, “Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.”

This, according to the JFK Library, “challenged every American to contribute in some way to the public good.”
