Pro-Nancy Pelosi Activists To Protest Seth Moulton As Leader of ‘White Centrists’

November 19, 2018

U.S. Representative Seth Moulton (D-Salem) is getting pushback from left-wing activists for his opposition to House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi’s campaign to regain the speakership in January when the Democrats take control of the chamber.

Moulton, a frequent critic of President Donald Trump, exhibits some disturbing conservative tendencies in his rhetoric, activists planning a protest Monday night against Moulton say in a statement posted online:

“At a time when Democrats need to be united in their opposition to Trump’s agenda, he is trying to divide us and move us to the right.

“When Moulton calls for new leadership to focus on the needs of ‘working families,’ he is really saying that Dems need to move away from ‘identity politics’ to court Trump voters. Moulton often says that Democrats are currently ‘out of touch’ with America, implying that ‘real Americans’ are white, straight and male. He doesn’t grasp that Americans sent a clear message a few weeks ago that we want women & people of color leading.”

Mouton’s opposition to Pelosi amounts to an attack on women, the protesters say.

“After everything women in this country have endured these past three years, after we have worked so hard to take back Congress, we will not tolerate this attack on the most powerful and accomplished female legislator this country has seen.

“Nancy Pelosi has committed to placing Progressive Caucus members—including newly elected members—on the most powerful committees in the House. This is a far better deal for Progressives than anything Seth Moulton and his fellow centrists are offering.”

The activists are planning to protest outside a town hall meeting Moulton is planning to hold at 6 p.m. Monday, November 19 at Amesbury Town Hall.

A press release about the protest was sent out by Democratic activists Bambi Snodgrass and Isa Leshko, according to the Salem News.
