Bernie Sanders To Host Progressive “The Gathering” With A-List Lineup

A veritable Who’s Who in progressive politics will be on hand for “The Gathering,” a three-day conference hosted by US Senator Bernie Sanders’ institute. The Sanders Institute event will be held in Burlington, VT November 29-December 1.

Speakers and panelists will include Sanders and his wife, Jane, NYC Mayor Bill DeBlasio, professor and activist Cornell West, Hollywood actors Susan Sarandon, John Cusack and Danny Glover, and author Naomi Klein.

Robert Pollin, University of Massachusetts-Amherst Distinguished Professor of Economics, along with San Juan, Puerto Rico Mayor Carmen Yulin Cruz, will be leading a panel called Puerto Rico: Austerity Or A Green New Deal.

The Sanders Institute website describes the 250-guest conference as “A Gathering of Minds to Envision the World We Want.” It further states:

The Sanders Institute Gathering will convene 250 leading progressive minds to envision – and to actualize – a better future for our country and the world. Reaching across generations and embracing the inherent synergies across the progressive platform, participants will discuss and debate our nation’s most pressing issues and offer innovative solutions.

Topics to be discussed during the progressive event will include crime, immigration, “Medicare for All”, climate change, housing and labor.

Sanders, a 2016 candidate for president, is slated to deliver the event’s keynote address.
