Feds Thinking About Allowing Hunting At Two Refuges on Cape

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is considering allowing deer, coyote, squirrel, and duck hunting at federal refuges in Chatham and Mashpee.

Officials are accepting public comment on draft plans that would allow hunting that experts say won’t hurt the balance of species, according to The Cape Cod Times.

It would be the first time hunting is allowed at Monomoy National Wildlife Refuge in Chatham, which was established in 1944, and at Mashpee National Wildlife Refuge, which was established in 1995.
