Biological Female Student Named Prom ‘King’ At Barnstable High School

A student who is a biological female but identifies as a male was named prom king at the senior prom of Barnstable High School.

The student was known to classmates as Nicole until announcing via Instagram last summer that henceforward the first name would be Nicholas, according to The Cape Cod Times.

Five students were nominated as candidates for prom king by teachers at the Cape’s largest high school, according to the Cape Cod Times, which also reported that students who attended the prom chose the transgender teen as prom king on Saturday night, May 25.

The dance took place at the Resort and Conference Center in Hyannis.

The 19-year-old senior plans to study psychology at Bridgewater State.
