Ayanna Pressley Wants Biden Admin To Halt Haitian Deportations

March 18, 2024

U.S. Representative Ayanna Pressley (D-Hyde Park) wants the federal government to commit to not deport anyone to Haiti.

Given the political instability in the country, including the recently announced resignation of Prime Minister Ariel Henry and recently heightened gang violence, Pressley told GBH News that deporting someone to Haiti is a “death sentence.”

“What we have to focus on now is making Haiti a priority, and we have to save lives, so we have to halt all deportations to Haiti,” Pressley told GBH News. “They’re still happening. That is definitely under the control of the Biden-Harris administration … To send anyone back to Haiti is nothing short of a death sentence.”

Foreign nationals deported to their home countries sometimes include drug dealers, murderers, and rapists.
