Boston Electrical Workers Union Endorses Joe Biden’s Re-Election Bid

International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 103 (Dorchester, Massachusetts) endorsed President Joe Biden’s re-election bid this week.

“President Biden and Vice President Harris are the leaders working people need now,” said Lou Antonellis, business manager and financial secretary of Local 103 IBEW, in a press release from the organization. “Together, they have driven historic investments in clean, green energy that are powering thousands of union jobs throughout New England and across our country. Time and time again, President Biden and Vice President Harris have fought for workers’ rights and protections and held huge corporations accountable. That’s why thousands of Local 103 electricians are proud to stand with the most pro-union administration in our nation’s history.”

Kamala Harris is the vice president of the United States, and President Biden’s presumed running mate this year.

Here is what the union cites as achievements for the Biden administration, according to the written statement:

• $1.2 trillion in American infrastructure, including roads, bridges, and energy infrastructure
• $7.5 billion in federal investment in public electric vehicle charging infrastructure with strong workforce standards
• Project labor agreements on all federal construction projects to create more opportunities for all workers, including working women and people of color
• Ensuring that all energy and transportation projects require prevailing wages for construction and repair work.

“President Biden has walked the strike line, held powerful corporations to account, and had our back. We’re proud to have his,” Antonellis said in the press release.

Local 103 IBEW members plan to campaign for Biden in his re-election bid this year.

The union represents more than 7,500 electricians and technicians in the Greater Boston area.
