Eighteen Walks? UMass Lowell Pitchers Have Trouble Finding Plate

Five pitchers for the University of Massachusetts at Lowell varsity baseball team issued 18 walks, hits three batters, and threw eight wild pitches en route to a 17-6 home loss to the University of Rhode Island.

Rhode Island (11-13) scored 17 runs on only 10 hits, all singles, while beating UMass Lowell (6-20).

“They just have to be able to throw the ball over the plate,” UMass Lowell River Hawks coach Ken Harring said of his pitchers, according to The Lowell Sun.

The game took 3 hours 50 minutes.
