Former Maine Governor Takes Summer Job As Bartender

June 16, 2019

Former Maine Governor Paul LePage is tending bar at a restaurant in Boothbay Harbor, Maine this summer.

The two-term Republican, widely considered the most conservative governor in the country, left office this past January after term limits prevented him from running again.

LePage is planning to work the entire summer at McSeagulls Restaurant, where his wife Ann and daughter Lauren have worked as waitresses in the past, according to the Bangor Daily News. Ann LePage is also planning to work at the restaurant as a waitress this summer.

The owner said bringing the former governor behind the bar is not a publicity stunt.

“You have any idea how hard it is to find workers? I will take good honest reliable help any day,” the owner said, according to the Bangor Daily News.
