Massachusetts Named 33rd Most Sinful State in the Country

February 21, 2019

Massachusetts ranks among the lowest five states in thefts per capita and online pornography watching, according to a survey released by WalletHub.com.

The survey attempted to measure what it calls “sin” in seven categories:  “anger and hatred,” “jealousy,” “excesses and vices,” “greed,” “lust,” “vanity,” and “laziness.”

Survey creators used 43 metrics to measure these traits.

Massachusetts ranked 33rd overall out of the 50 states.

Nevada, home of Sin City, ranked number 1 overall.

The survey wasn’t kind to the South, as five of the top 10 states were in the former Confederacy (Florida, Texas, Tennessee, Louisiana, Georgia).

The least sinful overall, according to the survey:  Vermont.

Elsewhere in New England:  Rhode Island, 37; Connecticut, 38; New Hampshire, 42; Maine, 49.
