MassGOP Slams Maura Healey For Not Revealing Out-of-State Travel Records

March 20, 2024

When Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey leaves the state, she hasn’t been transparent about where she’s going or the reasons for why she’s leaving.

Massachusetts Republican Party chairman Amy Carnevale criticized Healey for this opaqueness, saying that she should follow in the footsteps of past governors.

“The refusal by the Healey-Driscoll Administration to disclose information about private trips raises serious concerns about transparency, government accountability, and continuity in times of emergency,” Carnevale said in a press release from the MassGOP on Tuesday, March 19. “Massachusetts continues to rank near the bottom of all states in the nation when measuring transparency. The Healey-Driscoll Administration sets the example.  Massachusetts can and should do much better at being accountable to its citizens.”

Healey defended her lack of transparency on the issue to reporters on Monday.

“I continue to provide details about all of my work-related travel. I’ve also said that my personal life is my personal life and I’m going to work to make sure that privacy is maintained for my family,” Healey said to reporters Monday, March 18.
