Mayflower II Expected To Arrive In Plymouth This Coming Week
April 6, 2024
The Mayflower II is expected to make a voyage from Mystic Seaport Museum on the south coast of Connecticut to Plymouth, Massachusetts this coming week.
The wooden sailing ship, launched in 1956, is a replica of the ship that took the Pilgrims from England to the New World in 1620. In the spring of 1957, the Mayflower II sailed from Plymouth, England to Plymouth, Massachusetts, where it has served as a living museum from spring to fall most of the years since.
The Mayflower II often undergoes winter storage and maintenance in Mystic, Connecticut.
The ship will be towed up the coast from Connecticut and eventually through the Cape Cod Canal into Cape Cod Bay, before turning north for Plymouth Harbor, on Tuesday, April 9 or Wednesday, April 10 or Thursday, April 11, according to The Cape Cod Times.
The Mayflower II’s progress can be followed online through MarineTraffic.com or the Facebook page of the museum that owns the ship.
