March 17, 2024

Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey is adding a new “Office of Energy Transformation” to try to de-carbonize “community-by-community,” her administration said.

The new office “will provide leadership in strategic planning, roadmap development, and stakeholder engagement to advance the transformation of the state’s energy delivery ecosystem,” the state Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs said in an announcement Friday, March 15, according to State House News Service.

The new executive director of the new entity is a former head of corporate affairs for National Grid New England, Melissa Lavinson, whose salary will be $173,000 a year. Two other staff members are also expected to be fired, according to State House News Service.
