Polls Show Matt Mowers Has Lead In New Hampshire First Congressional District Republican Primary

August 17, 2022

Two new polls from the Republican primary race for New Hampshire’s First Congressional District leave some question marks, but former Trump aide Matt Mowers has the lead for now.

A New Hampshire Journal survey of 829 likely Republican primary voters gives Matt Mowers a substantial lead with 31 percent of the vote. Karoline Leavitt (16 percent), Tim Baxter (9 percent), Gail Huff Brown (8 percent), and Russell Prescott (3 percent) trail him.

Meanwhile, a poll from the St. Anselm College Survey Center shows Mowers only slightly ahead of Leavitt, 25 percent to Leavitt’s 21 percent.

Both polls show many Republican voters unsure of their preferred candidate. Both polls found that 33 percent of registered voters are unsure.

Four of the candidates, excluding Matt Mowers, participated in a debate on Saturday, August 13, hosted by the Government Integrity Project.

Democrat Chris Pappas currently holds the congressional seat.

The primary election takes place on Tuesday, September 13.
