Weymouth Police Officer Shot and Killed

A 20-year-old man is in custody on charges of shooting and killing a 42-year-old Weymouth police officer and a woman in a nearby home hit by a stray bullet, police said.

Officer Michael Chesna leaves behind a wife and two daughters, ages 9 and 4.

He joined the military to have a better chance of getting on the Weymouth Police Department, his mother told the police chief.

Tuesday would have been Chesna’s sixth anniversary on the job, according to the Brockton Enterprise.
