Driving Into Somebody’s House Without A License? That’s Just One Reason Boston City Councilor Kendra Lara Should Resign

Since nobody on the Boston City Council has the guts to say it, someone needs to:  Kendra Lara should resign.

The Boston city councilor, a democratic socialist first who has expressed support for abolishing the police, has spent the past two years making it clear she is unfit to serve.

Lara, first elected in 2021, is currently undergoing scrutiny for — according to Boston police — driving at least 53 miles per hour in a 25-mile-per-hour zone and crashing into a house.

It’s hard to envision any residential area in Boston where driving 53 miles per hour is a good idea — or feasible, for that matter. That’s reckless driving, and she did it with a child in the back of the car and with a suspended driver’s license. Her license was revoked in 2013 for failing to pay a ticket for not wearing a seatbelt, but her colleagues say they have regularly seen her drive to work. That’s not merely one bad mistake; that’s years of ignoring the law.

Additionally, a Boston resident recently filed a complaint to the Boston Election Department, challenging her residency. Lara claims to live in a multi-family home in Jamaica Plain in District 6, which she represents. It’s unclear if this claim is correct. Still, it is worrisome. Politicians in Massachusetts are supposed to live in the areas they represent. Yet it’s not rare that they don’t.

Driving record and residency questions aside, Lara is a bearer of false witness against her Democratic neighbors.

Following the 2022 Suffolk County District Attorney primary, Lara called two of her city council colleagues — Frank Baker and Erin Murphy — racist for allegedly collaborating with the media to unearth allegations that fellow city councilor Ricardo Arroyo had committed two sexual assaults

“Now that it’s over maybe we can take a good look at ourselves and the state of affairs were in. a sitting state senator and a criminal of a DA, paired up with the corporate media, and two racist councilors to steal an election. because criminal justice reform was too much,” Lara tweeted on September 7, 2022.

For reference, Arroyo supported the Rachael Rollins do-not-prosecute list during his unsuccessful primary bid against Kevin Hayden.

It isn’t racist to drop a dime on a political candidate’s past interactions with police — especially when the candidate is running to be the top prosecutor in the county.

Lara has also expressed anti-semitism during her tenure.

She claimed that the court system is controlled by Zionists because a federal appeals court upheld an anti-Boycott-Divestment-Sanctions law in Arkansas, which prohibits the state from giving contracts to companies that support boycotting, divesting from, and sanctioning the State of Israel.

“ya’ll are letting the Zionists SHAKE YOU DOWN. phew!” Lara tweeted on June 23, 2022.

That looks more like something that Kanye West might tweet than a sitting Boston city councilor.

Obviously, Lara won’t resign since Boston city councilors get paid $103,500 per year to watch the opioid epidemic, public education, and housing problems get worse.

But she should.
