Nashua Mayor Backs Mayor Pete

The mayor of Nashua, New Hampshire now backs former South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg for president.

According to The Hill, Jim Donchess, a Democrat, endorsed Buttigieg on Monday, February 3, just about one week before the Tuesday, February 11 New Hampshire primaries.

“As a fellow mayor, I know first-hand that we don’t have the luxury of letting politics get in the way of what matters most, delivering for the people who depend on you. It’s time we had someone in the White House who understood that,” Donchess said in a statement, according to The Hill.

“As President, Pete will serve communities like Nashua because he comes from a community like ours, and he will bring the voices of working people from cities and towns across America to Washington,” he continued.

This is not the first time Donchess endorsed a candidate in a presidential race. In 2016, he backed Hillary Clinton over Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders.

A recent Emerson College poll showed Buttigieg polling fourth in New Hampshire at 13 percent behind Sanders, former Vice President Joe Biden, and Massachusetts U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren.
