February 18, 2021

Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker changed his mind.

Now people ages 65 to 74 will be eligible for the coronavirus vaccine later this week. They can start scheduling appointments as of Thursday, February 18. Baker announced this at a press conference on Wednesday, February 17, according to NBC 10 Boston.

This new policy comes after he defended the decision to not vaccinate people in that age range last weekend.

“The sooner we get the big piece of the 75-year-old community vaccinated, we can start talking about the 65-and-plus group,” he told NBC 10 Boston over the weekend. “But I’m not comfortable moving on from where we’re from until we make it possible to vaccinate as many 75-year-olds as possible.”
