Eye On Dracut Wins 2022 Hometown Media Award

Eye On Dracut, a monthly show produced at Dracut Access Television by town resident Brian Genest, won the 2022 Hometown Media Award for Best of News.
It’s a national award given by the Alliance for Community Media Foundation that honors local cable programs distributed on public, educational, and governmental access cable television channels.
“I’m honored, humbled and proud that DATV and Eye On Dracut are being recognized for excellence with a national award for providing positive community programming,” said Genest, the show’s producer and host, in a written statement. “It’s exciting that the station and the show are being honored for showcasing Dracut in a positive way on local cable television.”

Dracut is a town of about 32,000 in northeastern Massachusetts, north of Lowell and south of the New Hampshire border.
Organizers of the contest evaluate 1,000 programs each year based on several factors. The organization presents awards based on creativity, how the show meets the communities’ needs, and diversity of community involvement. Awards are presented in a variety of categories to the most creative programs that address community needs, develop diverse community involvement, challenge conventional commercial television formats, and let viewers experience television in a different way.
“The Hometown Media Awards celebrate both the excellence of work and the diversity of media that appears on community channels being produced around the country,” said Mike Wassenaar, president and chief executive officer of Alliance for Community Media, in a written statement. “The ACM Foundation is proud of their achievement and of how they represent their communities in their work.”
