June 13, 2020
A former state legislator in Maine is expected to open up a medical marijuana dispensary next month.
CentralMaine.com reports that Ed DuGay, a Democrat who represented the 33rd district in the Maine House of Representatives from 1998 to 2006, will open a place called Hallowell 4Twenty in Hallowell. It is expected to open on July 4. The city council granted him a license for the business Monday, June 8.
Hallowell is a city of about 2,400 people just south of Augusta, the state’s capital.
In addition to marijuana, DuGay told the Bangor Daily News that his store will sell handmade soaps — made with essential oils and other natural products.
