Maine Man Arrested For Threatening King of Sweden

The 39-year-old man, who is of Swedish descent, visited Sweden in 2000 and was ignored, according to police.

The resident of Vinalhaven, a town on an island in Penobscot Bay in Maine, has frequently called the Swedish embassy in Washington D.C., sometimes as often as 10 times a day, according to the U.S. Secret Service.

He has threatened embassy staff members, their children, and King Carl XVI Gustaf, according to the U.S. Secret Service, reports the Portland Press Herald.

 

He has been charged with interstate transmission of threatening communications, a federal offense.
