Maine Seeing More Coronavirus Cases Among Younger Residents

September 14, 2021

Coronavirus cases are affecting a group that is least likely to die from the virus more frequently now in Maine.

There were 667 new coronavirus cases in the state of Maine reported on Tuesday, September 14. Of those cases, nearly half of them (319) were from people under 20 years old. Those new cases occurred over a three-day span.

That marks an uptick in the distribution of cases for younger Mainers. At the same time last month, people under 20 accounted for 17.5 percent of the state’s new cases.

Schools are a contributing cause to this uptick in cases among younger Mainers, according to the Portland Press-Herald.
