How to mix up some St. Patrick’s Day cheer

Celebrating the day devoted to Ireland’s patron saint in the Christian calendar is officially marked with parades in Boston, New York, Chicago and elsewhere. But for many the day is a celebration of Irish culture, and that can include pub-crawls in South Boston or a quieter gathering at home. If you’re among the latter group and plan to sit back and relax, here are some easy-to-make St. Patrick’s Day concoctions to enjoy with your guests.
Irish Coffee
Ingredients:
1. Irish whiskey such as Jameson, Bushmills or Redbreast
2. Freshly brewed coffee
3. Brown sugar
4. Irish cream liquor such as Baileys
5. Whipped cream
Instructions:
1. Brew the coffee
2. Pour coffee into serving cup, to three-quarters full
3. Add a teaspoon of brown sugar
4. Add a shot of whiskey
5. Fill with Irish cream liquor
6. Stir together
7. Top with whipped cream
Shamrock
Ingredients:
1. Midori melon liquor
2. Irish cream liquor
3. Irish whiskey
4. Green food coloring
Directions:
1. Add a shot of whiskey to a glass
2. Add a shot of Midori
3. Add a half-shot of Baileys
4. Add food coloring and mix
Irish beer float
Ingredients:
1. Favorite Irish stout such as Beamish, Guinness or Murphy’s
2. Vanilla ice cream
3. Whipped cream
4. Green jimmies or sugar crystals
Directions:
1. Pour the stout into a large mug to three-quarters full
2. Add a scoop of vanilla ice cream
3. Top with whipped cream and sprinkle with green jimmies or sugar
