New Hampshire Newspaper Publisher Fined $620 For ‘Illegal’ Political Ads

December 22, 2023

A New Hampshire newspaper publisher who ran political ads the state attorney general’s office claimed were illegal has been fined $620 by a judge.

Deb Paul, publisher of the Londonderry Times and the former Nutfield News, was convicted December 7 on misdemeanor charges of failing to identify political advertising, according to InDepthNH.org.

Paul’s lawyer said she tried to comply with the law as she struggled to run two newspapers with a tiny staff.

The state attorney general’s office says prosecutors warned her several times before bringing criminal charges.

A Derry District Court judge imposed the fine Wednesday, December 20, according to InDepthNH.org.
